Berat is one of the most beautiful cities in the country and is situated in the south. It is also known as the city of one thousand windows because of the huge number of big windows that can be seen on the traditional houses throughout the city. Due to its vast cultural and historical wealth, Berat is considered and declared a museum city. This short introduction cannot do just to the remarkable attractions of this special place in the heart of Albania. Here you can enjoy hiking in the high mountain of Tomorri or walking along the bank of Osumi river. In the Mangalem Quarter a unique view is portrayed by old traditional houses built almost on top of each other on the versant of a hill. Three old mosques are also part of this marvelous scenery, which is crowned by the outside walls of the Castle of Berat that appear on the top of the hill. Inside the castle there is another ancient quarter of the city as well as the Museum of Onufri.
